Places You Should Try When Visits Yogyakarta, Indonesia !

Hi All, It’s a long weekend here at Indonesia (5th-8th May 2016). So In this post, I would share about Yogyakarta and the list of place you should visits during your holiday. For those foreigner who read the post, I will tell you a short introduction about Yogyakarta.

Yogyakarta, also known as Jogja or Jogjakarta, is a city and the capital of Yogyakarta Special Region in Java, Indonesia.

It is renowned as a center of education (Kota Pelajar), classical Javanese fine art and culture such as batik, ballet, drama, music, poetry, and puppet shows.

Because of its proximity to the Borobudur and Prambanan temples, and because of the Javanese court Kraton culture of Kraton Yogyakarta, Yogyakarta has become an important tourist destination in Indonesia. Most tourists come to Yogyakarta as an accommodation base to visit Borobudur and Prambanan.

Yogyakarta has a lot of tourism potential hot spot. Many visitor has their ‘’thirst’’ of exicitement to visit its nature resort and culture on holiday.  The following below is what reference I would share to you, Let’s see!

Take Photoshoot At Kalibiru

In the morning, try to start visiting the Kalibiru, it’s located in the village Hargowilis , Kokap , Kulon Progo , Yogyakarta . Kalibiru is reachable through Jalan Magelang, Purworejo and headed Sermo Reservoir .

There you can take pictures at the top of the tree with the background scenery and Sermo reservoir Menoreh Mountains . You also can feel the sensation of trekking in the area Kalibiru . it’s open from 08:00 to 17:00 pm. 

Hiking On Lanang Mountain

Still in Kulon Progo , there you can climb the stairs to reach one of the peaks in the Mount Lanang, Menoreh Hills . The entry point for climbing Mount Lanang is from the village of Jatimulyo , District Girimulyo or about 10 kilometers from the tourism Kalibiru.

You will be invited to climb the stairs to the top and see the landscape of green hills in Yogyakarta and the Indian Ocean if the weather is sunny . If you plan on going there, please do not forget to bring a camera with you.

 Timang Beach

from the west of Yogyakarta , you can go to the south of Yogyakarta to seek sensation in the Indian Ocean using train to the Hanging Cuddle Island . You will be invited to cross Cuddle Island.  From  the hill of the beach,  the sound waves  are ready to meet the ear .

Wedi Ombo Beach

Wedi Ombo beach located in Jepitu village , about 40 km from southeast of Wonosari . There you can see the bay with soft white sand overlooking the sea and surrounded by limestone hills . Travelers can play for a moment with a sand beach and capture the image with the background scenery is diverse.

Merapi Lava Tour

When you visit Yogyakarta, it’s a must to visit villages on the slopes of Merapi, one of the most active volcanoes in Indonesia today. There, you can try exploring rocky slopes of Mount Merapi using jeep.

The best time to do a  lava tour  in  this mountain which located in the north of Yogyakarta is in the morning. You can enjoy the sunrise and also afterwards can visit the Museum Sisa Hartaku to view how the  relics belonging to residents swallowed by the lava .

Shopping At Malioboro

Vacation feels less impressive if not bring a gift to a loved one . Souvenirs Centre in Yogyakarta can be found in the Malioboro area .

You can find souvenirs ranging from food , shoes, slippers , socks , nightgowns, bracelets , hats , until other accessories . Do not forget to prepare money for shopping .
